Hilton Head 2008

Memorial weekend - We went to Hilton Head with Keith's parents and his brother's family. Josh absolutely loved the beach. He loved the ocean. He loved the sand and didn't even try to eat it.

8 Months

8 months. This first year is flying by. My parents are already asking me about his first birthday party plans. Didn't I just give birth to him? It sure seems like that. Yet, 8 months have already gone by. He is closer to one year than to the day I gave birth to him. It has been a wonderful 8 months, and Josh is such a pleasure. He can now fully sit unsupported, he is starting to clap, he is rolling around like crazy to get to where he wants to go, he is scooting (backwards), he is exploring new solid foods every 5 days. Banana is still his favorite. Any time you say the word "banana", his face lights up. "The Alphabet Song" is still Josh's favorite song. Still no teeth.

Mother's Day

Today was Josh's first Mother's Day. No, he didn't make me breakfast in bed or give me a macaroni collage, but the first mother's day is always special.

We went out to brunch in the morning. Then, I went to Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa and had a very deserved massage and mani/pedi. After, we went to Keith's parent's house where his parents grilled steaks and we had a nice Mother's Day dinner.

Bye, Bye Paci

Bye Bye Joshy soother
Bye Bye "mute button"
The pacifier is officially gone.... (At least, I think so)

The pacifier worked great when he was real little. Whenever he was fussy, if we put the pacifier in his mouth, he would immediately suck on it and calm down. The look on Josh's face when we gave him the pacifier was as if we were giving him a calming drug. Many times the pacifier even calmed Mommy down. It eliminated people saying, "newborn cries are so cute". (Really, they were being sarcastic). It also got rid of the people at the store or restaurant saying under their breath, "shut that baby up".

The other day, Josh was being a little cranky in Wholefoods. Shame on Mommy for keeping him out past naptime. So, I gave him a pacifier to soothe him while I finished picking up some things. Josh pulled the pacifier out of his mouth, held it in his hand, and looked at me with this face that said, "Mom, what do you think this really is going to do. You don't fool me".

Yes, the day has come that we are saying goodbye to the pacifier. How much longer before we can say goodbye to diapers too?
