At 15 months, I expressed my concern with the pediatrician that Joshua was not walking. They said it was ok as they don't really get concern until 18 months. However, his muscle tone in his feet felt a little low and there is a free program through the county. So, the pediatrician said that it would be a good idea to have them come out and evaluate Joshua. Of course, the program is through the government so it took a month for them to come out and evaluate Joshua. He scored very well on all aspects of the testing except for the gross motor skills - walking. So, we set up physical therapy to come to the home weekly to assist Joshua with his gross motor skills. To start, the therapist recommended for Joshua to get orthotics in his shoes to give him support. We got those about 2 weeks ago and it has made a world of difference.
Today was Joshua's first session with the Physical Therapist. Guess what Joshua did today? He walked! Of course, he starts walking just as he starts the phyical therapy. Isn't that always the case?
This was the best birthday present ever!
